Finnish-based wind power logistics company, Silvasti, has invested in their first Autonomous Positioning System (APS) for wind turbine blade installations to speed up installation time and increase safety on sites.

As an experienced provider of transportation, cranes and installation (TCI) for major OEMs across Northern Europe, Silvasti has signed a contract with Seasight Solutions on the innovative Autonomous Positioning System that helps speed up installation projects while increasing personnel safety.

“We are looking forward to this new exiting collaboration with Silvasti and we are thrilled to see the growing interest in the Autonomous Positioning System worldwide which now also seems to expand from the major wind turbine manufacturers to the market of OEM subcontractors,” says Anders Karlsson, Head of Sales at Seasight Solutions.

Silvasti – from Heavy Transport to Wind Power Installation

Silvasti specializes in special and heavy transports, as well as wind power logistics and installation. With extensive experience and expertise in the northern conditions, Silvasti stands as the number one provider in Northern Europe for these services.

In 2017, Silvasti acquired Danish special transportation company Frank Nørager & Co. A/S, significantly increasing their turnover and staff. This strategic move solidified their position as a major player in the special transportation industry in Northern Europe.

The Autonomous Positioning System

The Autonomous Positioning System (APS) represents the future of enhanced lifting safety. The APS solution embodies Seasight Solutions’s most recent breakthrough, offering advancements in safety and operational efficiency.

Crafted with precision, the technology facilitates the alignment of wind turbine components, eliminating the necessity for people in the installation zone and overcoming a number of obstacles on the most challenging installation sites both onshore and offshore.

The autonomous positioning system war first introduced in April 2020. Since then, the system has been sold to a number of major OEMs across Europe, Australia, Asia and the US.
