In spring, Seasight Solutions secured an order for four blade steel molds from a global wind turbine manufacturer.
Production of the first blade mold began in April, and by mid-May, the initial 41-meter-long steel structure was ready to be dispatched.
The production of the remaining three blade molds will continue through the summer, with delivery of the final blade mold sceduled for end of September.
Total blade lenght of 108 meters
These blade molds are part of the larger assembly of blades for one of the largest offshore wind turbines on the market, comprising three lower sections and three upper sections, collectively spanning a total blade length of 108 meters.
Allan Pedersen, Foreman at Seasight Solutions, emphasizes the significance of this project; “These are substantial components we’re moving out of the production hall and sending off for painting. The last time we produced blade molds, they were a bit longer than this one, however at that time the blade only comprised of two molds. This time, each mold accounts for one-third of the complete blade length, illustrating how wind turbines and their blades are growing larger and larger.”
Experienced subcontractors are key
Collaboration with long-standing subcontractors is crucial to the success of this endeavor. “We have a strong partnership with our subcontractors,” Allan Pedersen states. “They consistently deliver the components in sections of seven at a time, allowing us to maintain a smooth production flow without the need to store all the parts from day one. Additionally, ensuring the safe transportation of the large molds from our production facility to the painter before final delivery to the customer is essential.”
